Description: Embroidered unit patch for the US Army Security Agency.

The ASA cloth badge shows the claw of an eagle clutching two lightning arrows.

The raptor symbolizes alertness while the lightning bolts symbolize communication and speed.

The black feathers indicate secret intelligence gathering, while the color blue generally represents military intelligence.

A rare and very popular cloth badge among collectors and friends of US military insignia.

The agency existed between 1945 and 1976.

ASA was under the operational control of the Director of the National Security Agency (DIRNSA).

In addition to intelligence gathering, it was responsible for the security of army communications and for electronic warfare (ELOKA).

In 1977, the ASA was subordinated to US Army Military Intelligence to form the United States Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM).
